The inn's sun deck sits up among the pines, with tables in the sun for a slow morning or for planning the next day. Every guest is welcome to use it.

Leave the car in our free lot and walk: Ocean Avenue's shops, galleries and restaurants are two blocks away, and the white sand of Carmel Beach is at the bottom of the hill.

Ocean Avenue, the village's main street of shops, galleries and restaurants, is two blocks south, about a 4-minute walk. The Carmel Plaza shopping center, on Ocean Avenue at Mission Street, is about a 5-minute walk. Carmel Beach, at the foot of Ocean Avenue to the west, is about a 13-minute walk. Sunset Center, the village's performing arts center, is to the south, about a 10-minute walk. Highway 1 runs along the east side of the village: north to Monterey and the Monterey Bay Aquarium, and south to the Carmel Mission, Point Lobos and Big Sur. 17-Mile Drive and Pebble Beach are to the northwest. On Fifth and Mission, two blocks from Ocean Avenue

Carmel-by-the-Sea has no street numbers, so the inn's address is its corner: the northeast corner of Fifth Avenue and Mission Street, in the quiet streets just north of the village center.

Ocean Avenue and the Carmel Plaza shopping center are about five minutes away on foot, and Carmel Beach about thirteen. 17-Mile Drive, Point Lobos and the Monterey Bay Aquarium are all a short drive.

What time are check-in and check-out?

Check-in is from 3:00 PM and check-out is by 11:00 AM. Early check-in and late check-out can be arranged with the front desk if you ask in advance, subject to availability.

Is parking free?

Yes. Parking on site is free for guests.

How far is the beach?

Carmel Beach is at the foot of Ocean Avenue, about a 13-minute walk. The shops and restaurants of Ocean Avenue are about 4 minutes away on foot.

Do any rooms have a balcony?

Yes. The Deluxe King with Balcony and the King Suite with Balcony each have a private balcony. Every guest can use the sun deck.

Do the rooms have air conditioning?

No. Every room has a ceiling fan and an in-wall electric heater. Carmel's ocean air keeps the village cool most of the year.

Do the rooms have bathtubs?

Every room has a shower, except the Accessible Queen, which has a bathtub with grab bars and a portable shower seat.

Is there an elevator?

No. Some rooms are up a flight of stairs. If you need a room without stairs, tell us when you book and we will do our best to arrange one.

Are pets allowed?

Pets are not permitted. Service animals are always welcome.

Can I cancel my reservation?

Yes. Standard reservations can be cancelled for a full refund until 3:00 PM, 72 hours before your arrival date, unless your confirmation says otherwise. Special rates and events can have different terms.
