We are on the northeast corner of Fifth Avenue and Mission Street, two blocks north of Ocean Avenue in Carmel-by-the-Sea. The village has no street numbers, so use the corner.

From the San Francisco Bay Area

About two to two and a half hours. Take US-101 South past San Jose and Gilroy to Prunedale, then Highway 156 West toward Monterey, where it joins Highway 1 South. Stay on Highway 1 through Monterey to Carmel and take the Ocean Avenue exit into the village. Turn right onto Mission Street and drive two blocks north to Fifth Avenue. The inn is on your right, on the northeast corner.

From Los Angeles

About five and a half to six hours. Take US-101 North to Salinas, then Highway 68 West toward Monterey. Join Highway 1 South to Carmel, take the Ocean Avenue exit, then turn right onto Mission Street as above. Highway 1 along the Big Sur coast is the scenic alternative; check road conditions before you go.

By air

Monterey Regional Airport (MRY) is about 15 minutes away by car. San Jose (SJC) is about an hour and a half, and San Francisco (SFO) about two hours or more.

Parking

Parking on site is free for guests, so you can leave the car for your whole stay and walk the village. Accessible parking is available.

Arriving

Check-in is from 3:00 PM. If you expect to arrive late in the evening, call (831) 624-5547 before you travel so that we can have your room ready.

Ocean Avenue, the village's main street of shops, galleries and restaurants, is two blocks south, about a 4-minute walk. The Carmel Plaza shopping center, on Ocean Avenue at Mission Street, is about a 5-minute walk. Carmel Beach, at the foot of Ocean Avenue to the west, is about a 13-minute walk. Sunset Center, the village's performing arts center, is to the south, about a 10-minute walk. Highway 1 runs along the east side of the village: north to Monterey and the Monterey Bay Aquarium, and south to the Carmel Mission, Point Lobos and Big Sur. 17-Mile Drive and Pebble Beach are to the northwest.
